Marina Belous, head of the program "Removing barriers to Wind Energy Development in the Republic of Belarus" said: “Ukraine is the country which experience we should study first. Our conditions are very similar. In the former Soviet Union there was a unified energy system that was inherited by both Ukraine and Belarus. Ukraine has a developed nuclear power sector, and now in Belarus we have started to develop nuclear energy as well. We have been greatly impressed by your attention to such issues as environmental protection, environmental impact assessment. Grid connection regulation and other issues that Ukrainian energy sector is trying to solve today is the experience that is very useful for the Republic of Belarus. No language barriers make our cooperation even more valuable and meaningful for us”.

The project “Removing Barriers to Wind Energy Development in the Republic of Belarus” was approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus on 18 December 2014. The donors of the project include the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Implementing organization - UNDP. Term of implementation: 2015-2019.
