Official opening ceremony of Phase I of Novotroitska wind power plant was held in Kherson region on 29 September 2017. The first 12 wind turbines Vestas V-126, 3,45 MW totalling 41,4 MW are to start “green” electricity supply by the end of 2017.
Carl Sturen, Managing Director of Vindkraft Ukraina, Nataliya Boyko, Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Chairman of the Board of IB "Ukrgasbank" Kirill Shevchenko, Vsevolod Kovalchuk, Acting Director of NPC Ukrenergo State Enterprise, Sergiy Savchuk, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, Oleksiy Ryabchyn, MP, addressed the Ukrainian and foreign guests with welcoming speeches. Eva Svedling, State Secretary to the Minister for International Development, Cooperation and Climate of Sweden, stressed the importance of wind technologies in combating climate change and congratulated all those present on the opening of a new wind power plant in the country.
“Opening of Phase I of Novotroitska wind power plant is a significant event for Ukraine; it’s one more step towards the country's energy independence, to our sustainable future”, said Andrei Konechenkov, the UWEA Chairman, Vice-President of the WWEA.
This event coincided with X International Investment Forum “Тavrian Horizons: cooperation, investments, economic development” that took place in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region. More than 750 participants including Ukrainian and foreign investment companies, government officials, diplomats, international financial and donor organizations, experts in the field of economic development and investment, NGOs and academics discussed economic and investment development of Kherson region. This year event was devoted to the prospects of “green economy” development in Ukraine, as well as the possibilities that open in Kherson region for “green projects” implementation.
Panel discussion “Prospects for Electricity Generation form RES” chaired by Andriy Konechenkov and initiated by Kherson Regional State Administration, Group of Companies Vindkraft and the Ukrainian Wind Energy association attracted attention of many delegates.
Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of Renewable Enenrgy was signed between Kherson Regional State Administration and Group of Companies Vindkraft.
