An opening ceremony of new 20,7 MW wind power plant Staryi Sambir-2 took place on 26 October 2017 in Starosambirskiy district, Lviv region. The project has been implemented by a company Carpathian Wind LLC (Eco-Optima Group).
The wind power plant comprising of 6 WTGs V112 Vestas 3,45 MW is expected to generate 56 mln kWh per year, enough to supply population of two local districts with green electricity.
The opening ceremony was attended by Stepan Kubiv, First Vice Prime Minister of UKraine, Oleg Sinyutka, Chairman of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Shevka Adzhuner, Director of the EBRD in Ukraine.
In his welcome speech director of Carpathian Wind LLC Maxim Kozitskiy thanked all those who had contributed to the implementation of the project including, first of all, local communities and heads of Starosamborskiy district and Lviv region.
The project was funded jointly with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Clean Technology Facility (CFT), the World Bank, the IFU and the Northern Environmental Financial Corporation (NEFCO). The relevant agreement was signed on 11 November 2016 at the XVI International Investment Forum in Lviv. The overall investment amounts to EUR 34 million.
Currently ECO-Optima Group owns and operates two wind farms totaling 33 MW.
