MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY BETWEEN UKRAINE AND THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

On 5 December 2017 the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine and the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China (http://en.ndrc.gov.cn) signed a Memorandum of cooperation on energy efficiency and renewable energy. In the framework of the Memorandum, state institutions will cooperate in preparing and implementing joint “green” projects. The Memorandum provides for the exchange of information on support mechanisms for stimulating the development of renewable energy.

“Ukraine and China have huge prospects for cooperation in the renewable energy sector. For its part, Ukraine offers significant resource potential, a favourable legislative framework for investors' work and numerous potential “green” projects in different regions”, noted Sergey Savchuk, Head of  the  State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine.

According to the International organisation REN21, China is a world leader in investments in renewable energy sector (large HPPs of more than 50 MW excluding). Thus, in 2016 China attracted 78,3 bln USD in “green” projects.
