MANAGING A RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT

On 25 February 2019, a workshop “Managing a renewable energy project: construction and commissioning - on time, on budget and on project design” organized by Sayenko Kharenko law firm was successfully held in Kyiv. Partners of the event included the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and other professional associations.

Around 150 participants including representatives of professional RE associations, investors, suppliers of RE equipment and energy companies discussed issues related to construction and commissioning phases of the project. Speakers included Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA; Philip Lysyuk, Director of Wind Energy LLC; Olga Nikolayenko, Consultant on customs issues of Service ZED LLC; Yevhen Oliinyk, Member of the Board of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine; Maryna Hritsyshyna, Counsel of Sayenko Kharenko law firm and Member of the UWEA Board; Valentyna Beliakova, Director of TIU Canada; Volodymyr Yaremko, Counsel of Sayenko Kharenko law firm and others.

Maryna Hritsyshyna, Counsel of Sayenko Kharenko law firm and Member of the Board of the UWEA, opened the event, devoting her presentation to structuring EPC contracts and general contracting agreements and issues related to sharing risks and costs between parties, equipment certification.

Philip Lysyuk, Director of Wind Energy LLC, presented Enercon wind turbines and discussed the main challenges of the construction and exploitation phases of the wind power project.

During the second session, Volodymyr Yaremko, Counsel of Sayenko Kharenko law firm, highlighted peculiarities of RES construction contracts and focused on arbitration disputes and preventive actions to be applied while concluding contracts.

Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA Board, Vice President of the World Wind Energy Association, concluded the event. His presentation was devoted to the preparation process of the bill on introducing “green” actions in Ukraine to the second reading in the Verkhovna Rada and addressed the main provisions of the given draft, which were considered at the meetings of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety.
