About Us
PUBLIC UNION “UKRAINIAN WIND ENERGY ASSOCIATION” (UWEA) is the largest non-profit professional association in the field of renewable energy in Ukraine, which is the main platform for communication and cooperation for the large-scale implementation of wind energy technologies, energy storage systems and further promotion of the “green” transformation of the entire energy system of Ukraine and its post-war restoration based on clean energy sources and sustainable development.
Our history
The public organization “Ukrainian Wind Energy Association” (UWEA) was established.
UWEA becomes a member of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA).
Start of the first certified wind potential measurement campaign on the Kerch Peninsula, Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The first UWEA Wind Energy Market Review of Ukraine was prepared in cooperation with the law firm CMS. The review has since been published annually in cooperation with various law firms.
Commissioning of the first MW-class wind turbines in Donetsk region.
Launch of the celebration of Global Wind Day in Ukraine.
Installation of the first Vestas wind turbine in Ukraine in Kherson region Vestas.
UWEA becomes a member of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), now WindEurope.

Signing of a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation with the Inter-Factional Parliamentary Association “Clean Energy – Healthy Environment” Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
White Paper “Offshore Wind Energy and Green Hydrogen: Opening New Frontiers of Ukraine’s Energy Potential,” prepared in cooperation with the law firm Asters, the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council, and the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
International conference “Ukraine’s Wind Energy Sector: Transition from the Green Tariff to Market Conditions.”
UWEA issued an appeal to the international wind energy community to support the introduction of a full embargo on russian natural gas and oil in response to russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
UWEA became a co-founder of the Black Sea Offshore Wind Energy Federation (BASOFWED), together with profile associations from Turkey, Bulgaria and Georgia.
UWEA launched a new area of activity focused on volunteering and supporting communities affected by the war.
Together with WindEurope, UWEA became a co-initiator of the “Wind Industry Supporting Ukrainians” campaign, within which medical equipment was delivered to hospitals in various regions of Ukraine.
Together with the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) and Global 100% RE, UWEA initiated the “Renewables4Ukraine” campaign, under which solar power systems were installed at medical facilities and kindergartens in the Bucha district and the city of Myrhorod.
