UWEA at Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025: Resilience, Investment, and New Wind Power Initiatives

From 10 to 11 July 2025, Rome, Italy, hosts the governmental Ukraine Recovery Conference, attended by delegates from member companies of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, led by Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board. On 09 July a pivotal roundtable discussion titled “Energy Solutions for Sustainable Regional Development: Investment, Innovation, and Resilience” took place as part of the conference. Co-organized by UNDP in Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the event brought together representatives from government, business, and international financial institutions to discuss critical topics, including enhanced institutional and financial support for the renewable energy sector, improved energy efficiency, and grid modernization to ensure communities have access to reliable and sustainable electricity.

Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA, provided expert insights into Ukraine’s wind energy market. In his presentation, he highlighted key data showcasing the sector’s momentum and investment appeal:

New Developments. Ukraine is currently installing over 700 MW of new wind power capacity, alongside more than 200 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS), a critical component for building a flexible and modern energy grid.

Investor Trust. Between 2022 and the first quarter of 2025, Ukraine commissioned 258 MW of new wind farms, with 50% financed by international investors, signaling a robust and growing foundation of confidence.

Business-Friendly Environment. As Konechenkov emphasized: “Ukraine’s wind energy market is not just surviving – it is growing, and open for business.

Strategic Priority. Wind energy development is a cornerstone of decentralizing and strengthening Ukraine’s energy system, as outlined in key national strategies, including the Distributed Generation Development Strategy to 2035 and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan to 2030.

Together, we are building a sustainable and energy-independent future for Ukraine!
