On 19 August 2026, Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), together with Yevhenii Kontorshchykov, Head of the Analytical Department, participated in the German-Ukrainian roundtable dedicated to green technology investments, where they met with representatives of the German government and German businesses.

The event, organized by AHK Ukraine, GIZ, the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine, and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, served as an essential platform for discussing practical mechanisms to attract international capital into Ukraine’s decentralized and resilient energy system. The discussion focused on the rapid deployment of RES capacity, the integration of BESS, and the adoption of leading European technologies to rebuild war-damaged infrastructure.

Key Takeaways and Highlights of UWEA’s Participation:

  • Scaling Up Wind Power: Despite the challenges of martial law, the sector demonstrates resilience and continues to advance new projects. Currently, new wind power capacities are being developed across 15 regions of Ukraine.
  • Balancing Capacities and BESS: The expansion of RES facilities, including wind farms, must occur synchronously with battery energy storage systems to maintain operational grid security and ensure efficient generation management.
  • Transparent Rules of the Game: A stable regulatory framework, the implementation of competitive auctions, and the development of cross-border electricity trade remain key prerequisites for German and international investors entering the market.

UWEA continues its systematic cooperation with international partners, strengthening dialogue with European counterparts to drive green transformation and secure Ukraine’s long-term energy independence.

Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board of UWEA:
“We are sincerely grateful to the German government for its systematic and consistent support of Ukraine’s energy sector. This event clearly proves that despite all the challenges of wartime, German companies are here with us, ready to invest, share expertise, and actively participate in shaping Ukraine’s new energy landscape.”

We thank the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Ukraine) for the invitation!
