On April 20-21, 2021, the UWEA held a large-scale international conference, in which representatives of relevant state authorities (the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the State Agency for Energy Efficiency, the National Commission for Energy and Renewable Energy Resources of Ukraine), people’s deputies, representatives of leading international organizations, electricity market players, including NPC Ukrenergo, SE Guaranteed Buyer, wind energy equipment manufacturers and wind energy companies provided their vision of the further development of wind energy in Ukraine and presented the experience of world countries in implementing changes in the mechanisms for supporting renewable energy. As part of one of the sessions, a pilot project for the production of “green” hydrogen using wind energy was presented, and a novelty of the conference was the presentation of the White Paper on the Development of Offshore Wind Energy in Ukraine.
The conference was organized in partnership with WindEurope with the support of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine. The general sponsor was Vestas Northern & Central Europe. Information support for the conference was provided by member companies and permanent partners of UVEA, namely: UDP Renewables, the Professional Association of Ecologists of Ukraine, the Turkish-Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Businessmen (TUSiB), the GetMarket platform for investments in renewable energy, Energoreforma, Elektrovesti, and ExproConsulting. Due to quarantine restrictions, the conference was held online.
The conference was attended by 33 international and national speakers, over 500 participants from 25 countries: Ukraine, Germany, South Africa, Austria, Hungary, Denmark, India, Bulgaria, Turkey, Spain, Chile, Sweden, France, Qatar, Greece, Georgia, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Belarus, Latvia, Netherlands and Montenegro.
The honorary speaker of the conference was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia Ole Mikkelsen, who outlined the potential of the Danish-Ukrainian energy partnership in the field of wind energy.
The speakers also included representatives of the International Energy Agency, BloombergNEF, WoodMackenzie, Vestas, GE, Nordex Acciona and leading Ukrainian development companies.
