SECRETS OF THE WIND
“Secrets of the Wind” is the first children’s book about wind energy in Ukraine, initiated and prepared by the UWEA in cooperation with the publishing house “Ridna Mova” and with the support of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Ukraine.
The book is intended for children aged 6-12 and is the first in the series of books “Children for a Clean Planet” launched by the publishing house. The book tells the adventures of Max and his friends – the professor, Alina and the smart electric car Mobi-El. The heroes explore the secrets of the wind, get acquainted with wind energy and learn to care for the environment.
As a “green” Foundation, we always care about environmental issues. Only through the education of our children can we instill in them a love for the environment. And in Ukraine, this issue is especially acute, because we need to work even harder to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and abandon fossil fuels. Therefore, this project became another opportunity for the Foundation not only to support the publication of the book, but also to continue to expand the “green” philosophy of our society

“Secrets of the Wind” is not just another encyclopedia written in the dry language of science, it is a real non-fiction with vivid adventures of the main characters that will take your breath away. The inspiration and authors of the book were Halyna Schmidt, a member of the UVEA Board, and Halyna Maniv, a children’s writer from the publishing house “Ridna Mova”.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said: “We all come from childhood!” Everything we learned in childhood, everything we defined for ourselves as “good” or “bad” accompanies us throughout our lives. That is why learning to be careful about nature and using environmentally friendly energy sources should begin in childhood. The book “Secrets of the Wind” is not only about the wind as a natural phenomenon, it is also about wind energy technology and our attitude towards nature as such.
